July 2024: Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Laying of the Church Cornerstone
On July 27, 1924 church officials, the congregation and the public held a ceremony to place the cornerstone of our current church building at the corner of North Main Street and East Hollenback Avenue. This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of this historic event. Click HERE to read an historic newspaper article about the laying of the cornerstone. St. Luke’s was incorporated in December 1893 and held services in a small wooden structure on North Franklin Street between Maple and Linden Streets. As the congregation grew, a larger structure, the present church, was constructed over a 2 year period, and was dedicated in 1926. 98 years later, St. Luke’s continues to hold service every Sunday morning at 10:15am.
